When we started Main Story Candles, we had one big goal in mind: to create amazing scents while using the best ingredients to make sure every candle is top quality. We wanted to offer something better than the usual paraffin wax candles, which can be full of chemicals and leave behind unpleasant stuff in the air. We knew we could do better—and our customers deserve better.
After lots of research and even more testing with different natural waxes, we found the perfect fit: American-grown soybeans! Blended with smooth, creamy coconut wax, we found a perfect blend that burns longer and cleaner than paraffin. The result? A candle that’s healthier, lasts longer, and smells amazing, with no worries about harmful chemicals in the air.

Another value we hold close is supporting local businesses and industries. As a small family business, we’re proud to source everything we can right here in the U.S. When we decided to make the perfect candle, we knew we wanted to use only all-natural ingredients, like lead- and zinc-free cotton wicks and soy wax from American-grown soybeans.
This decision wasn’t just about quality—it was about making sure that our candles burn cleanly and are safe for everyone to enjoy, including people who are sensitive to fragrances. One of the most heartwarming stories we’ve heard is from a customer who had never been able to enjoy candles due to her allergies. She struggled with the strong chemicals in paraffin wax candles, and for years, she had to avoid them altogether.
But when she tried one of our candles—specifically our signature banana bread scent—she was amazed. The American Soybean: A True Superstar
As we dove into the world of candle-making, we started to really appreciate the American soybean and everything it does. the “American Superstar,” soybeans are a huge deal in the U.S. We produce about 4 billion bushels of soybeans each year, making us the second-largest exporter in the world. In 2023, soybean exports brought in over $27 billion to the U.S. economy!
You might think of soybeans when you see soy milk or tofu, but they do so much more. Around 70% of all the soybeans grown in the U.S. go into livestock feed, while only about 15% are used for food products.
Soybeans aren’t just for eating—they’re also used in biofuels, industrial products, and of course, in candles like ours. By using soybeans in our wax, we’re not just making high-quality candles; we’re supporting farmers and industries that play a huge part in our economy. And every time you light one of our candles, you’re helping to keep that cycle going.
